Why Nuterials?

From the very beginning, we knew we didn’t want to create another material. The world already has plenty of those. What we wanted instead was to take the materials that are already here (like walnut shells!), and give them a new purpose. A material that could live a full life, and then safely return to nature when its job was done. Because as material providers, that feels like the least we can do: making sure that, no matter where or how our material is used, it leaves the smallest possible impact. When we first sat down with those walnut shells, the questions quickly became bigger than: “Can we make a new material?”  We asked ourselves: how do we use a resource that doesn’t compete with food, doesn’t require cutting down trees, and doesn’t steal from future generations? How do we make it scalable so industries can adopt it without reinventing everything? And how do we make it so beautiful that people genuinely want to work with it?

Those late-night questions slowly shaped our mission, and they continue to drive our daily motivation. We keep challenging ourselves, but one thing that leads our way - it has to be simple, thoughtful, and beautiful.

Simple, because good design doesn’t need to be complicated. A simple recipe and a material that fits into existing production lines.

Thoughtful, no half measures. We start with sidestreams, use materials that are fully biobased and biodegradable, and design for true circularity. This isn’t a selling point anymore - it’s the basis for everything we create.

Beautiful, because when something carries the warmth and texture of its natural origin, people value it, care for it, and keep it longer.

So, why Nuterials?  Because we believe materials can be more than just replacements, they can be smart, circular, and full of character.
